Attending Dalai Lama’s Lecture – May 14, Madison, Wisconsin

Listening to Dalai Lama in person was on my bucket list for a while, but it was simply by chance I found out that he was visiting Madison and I had time on hand. On May 13, I drove to Madison with my daughter and went straight to the Deer Park Center nearby. We did not know that he was staying there until two big police officer stopped us at the entrance. The nearby hotel where we were staying was full of people who came to see him from all over the area. I had a great time talking with them. Next morning, at the Alliant Center, we sat among Tibetan families and others of many faiths. Dalai Lama’s lecture, a teaching lecture was based on the ancient text written by Je Tsongkhapa. The small book containing the text was distributed at the entrance which proved to be very helpful. See http://www.dalailama.com/news/post/946-public-teachings-addressing-tibetan-residents-and-visiting-the-state-legislature-in-madison-wisconsin for a brief on the visit. Although I have experienced many traditions and teaching of Buddhism and visited Lhasa before, it was one of most inspiring mornings of my life. It was a wonderful “satsang”.
