Writing and publishing collaborative fiction: Bugging Cancer – Daring to Dream

For close to twenty years, I had serious interests in Intellectual Property laws both in U.S and India. Stands taken by individual innovators, governmental and non-governmental organizations are often conflicting and therefore worth pondering about from an intellectual point of view. During my days at Argonne National Laboratory and Fermilab, part of my work involved IP issues. Since then, I seem to remain involved with it. For several years, I have personally known Dr. Ananda Chakraboarty, who was at the center of the US Supreme Court’s 1980 landmark decision in Diamond v. Chakrabarty. It was an honor when Dr. Chakrabarty invited me to join the experiment of writing a collaborative fiction, titled “Bugging Cancer – Daring to Dream”. I created the character of George Rivera, the IP lawyer and had fun researching patent laws and understanding various, often conflicting, issues with patenting. Recently, the novel was released and is available at Amazon. Also see http://www.logos-press.com/books/bugging-cancer/ for more details.

During the past year, I also helped filing an Amici Curie brief. See Banerjee et al.: Brief of Amici Curie Telecommunication Systems Inc. and Bakul Banerjee, Ph. D.,Supporting Defendant – Appellant Alice Corporation Pty Ltd.; 2013, http://ipwatchdog.com/blog/CLS-amici-brief-RPG.pdf
